Former Cal State Northridge IF Ari Camarillo Jr. Transfers to Texas A&M Aggies

As the team was preparing for Round 1 of the NCAA Tournament, coach Jim Schlossnagle received news that Cal State Northridge star infielder Ali Camarillo would be joining his team next season via the transfer portal.

The Texas A&M Aggies baseball team had a really good Friday. Not only did A&M beat Cal State Fullerton 7-0 in the first round of the Stanford Regional of the 2023 NCAA Tournament, it also got some really good news just ahead of the game.

As the team was preparing for the game, coach Jim Schlossnagle received news that Cal State Northridge star infielder Ali Camarillo would be joining his team next season via the transfer portal.

Camarillo, who hails from Chula Vista, California, broke out last year during his sophomore season at CSUN ending the year batting .371 with seven home runs and 44 RBIs. For his collegiate career, Camarillo is batting .332 with a.493 slugging percentage and a .398 on-base percentage.

This year's infield starters - Justin Vossos, Hunter Haas, Kaeden Kent, Jack Moss, Trevor Werner, and Lucas Kelly - are all expected back. Senior Austin Bost should be the team's only loss. So the Otay Ranch (CA) High School product will have some competition to start.

Camarillo also played 36 games for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots of the Alaska Baseball League in 2022 where he batted .302/.393/.419 with an .812 OPS.
