NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Texas A&M was able to pick up their first SEC victory under the direction of first-year head coach Buzz Williams. After being down by 10 at halftime, strong offensive production along with adequate defensive play led to a 57-47 victory over Ole Miss.Β 

The Aggies (7-6, 1-1 SEC) will now try to start another winning streak as conference play endures. This weekend, they will travel to home of country music to take on Vanderbilt in the historic Memorial Gymnasium. The Commodores (8-6) went down the wire against top-ranked Auburn, but fell short late. The Aggies will be given a blessing as Aaron Nesmith, the SEC leading scorer, will be out indefinitely.Β

FIRST HALF

Under 16:00 - Texas A&M leads 7-3

The Aggies would go on a 7-0 run thanks to a 3-pointer from Wendall Mitchell. Two fouls would lead to free throws by Saban Lee. Josh Nebo would put the Aggies but seven with a field goal.Β 

Under 12:00 - Texas A&M leads 19-9

Here come the Commodores. Ejike Obinna would slam it back on an assist from Scottie Pippen Jr. to put them down by four. The son of the former NBA star would drain a 3-pointer to make it a two-point game. Another 3-pointer from Andre Gordon to put them up by seven. Jay Jay Chandler would make it a double-digit game with his 3-pointer. Both teams have four turnovers as A&M goes on an 8-0 run. Β 

Under 8:00 - Texas A&M leads 28-15

Emmanuel Miller would make it a 14-point game before Pippen Jr. drained his second 3-pointer of the game. The freshman from Canada would follow up by tipping in a shot fromΒ Jonathan Aku. A&M has gone on a 9-7 run in four minutes without Josh Nebo on the court. They currently lead by 13.Β 

Under 4:00 - Texas A&M leads 33-17

Mark French put up a field goal to give A&M a 15-point lead. Gordon would make both free throws to make it a 17-point lead. A slam dunk fromΒ Dylan DisuΒ brought life back into Memorial Stadium, but poor shoot would keep the score the same for the next two minutes.

Under 2:00 - Texas A&M leads 36-20

Saben Lee has struggled becoming the front man for the Commodores, but a 3-pointer makes it a 12-point game. Chandler responded with a jumper. Nebo tipped in a shot from Savion Flagg to give A&M a 16-point lead.

Both teams missed every shot as the Aggies hold the same lead heading into halftime. Andre Gordon leads the Aggies with 11 points. Scottie Pippen Jr. leads Vanderbilt with six points.

HALFTIME: Texas A&M 36, Vanderbilt 20

SECOND HALF

Under 16:00 -Texas A&M leads 40-22

Obinna slammed down a ball on an assist from Disu. Flag would drain a jumper to keep it a 16-point lead. A steal from Gordon could have led to points from Chandler, but a dropped ball on the rise led to a turnover for the Aggies.Β 

Under 12:00 -Texas A&M leads 50-24

Obinna gets another dunk to take care of business in the paint. Gordon responded with a jumper to keep the score up by 16. Quenton Jackson would cock one back to put A&M up by 20. Nebo tacked on another two after a missed shot from Chandler. The Aggies have gone on a 14-4 run to begin the second half.Β 

Under 8:00 - Texas A&M leads 60-31

Flagg nailed a 3-pointer to put A&M up by 29. French would make it a 31-point lead with his 3-pointer but Obinna would nail a jump. Chandler got the slam to makeup for the jumper and two drives later Jordan Wright would make both free throws off a foul.Β 

Under 4:00 - Texas A&M leads 64-41

Three fouls led to four points from Maxwell Evans. Obinna picks up his fourth slam dunk of the afternoon and drew the foul to put Vanderbilt down by 22. Josh Nebo ends the Commodores streak. Vanderbilt has gone on a 10-4 Β run since the eight minute mark.Β 

Under 2:00 - Texas A&M leads 67-46

Jackson makes one free throw while Pippen Jr. hits both his shots following the foul. Evans drills a 3-pointer to put Vanderbilt down by 21.Β 

0:00 - Texas A&M leads 69-50

Pippen drew a foul and made both free throws. Evans would drain a jumper with under a minute to play while Jackson would deliver a layup. A rebound from Gordon would seal it as Texas A&M picked up their second victory in the SEC.Β
