NCAA Tournament Bracket: Where Do Aggies Stand?
The madness of March is building as conference tournaments are underway. The Texas A&M Aggies are on a four-game winning streak and hunting for a ticket to the NCAA Tournament.
The No. 7 seed Aggies held off a comeback from the No. 10 seed Ole Miss Rebels on Thursday night, securing a hard-fought 80-71 victory in the Southeastern Conference basketball tournament at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN.
The win helped the case of the "bubble team" Aggies, who is now considered to be one of the last four of the 68 teams to secure a spot in the Big Dance.
The Aggies' resume includes home wins over Mississippi State, Tennessee, Kentucky and Florida plus a neutral-floor victory over Iowa State and the road win against Ole Miss.
Now, the Aggies are faced with the challenge of facing the No. 2 seed Kentucky Wildcats in Friday’s SEC quarterfinals at 6 p.m. CT. Texas A&M has a chance to upset the Wildcats again this season after shocking them in the regular season in January... And certainly boosting their NCAA Tournament stock if so.
There are projected to be seven teams from the SEC Conference that make the NCAA Tournament, the second-most out of any conference (9, Big-12 Conference).
Aggies Extend Stay in Nashville With Victory Against Ole Miss
Selection Sunday is March 17th with the First Four on March 19-20 and the First Round on March 21-22.
The Big Dance concludes in the NCAA Championship Game on April 8. The UConn Huskies currently are the favorites to win the crown. UConn defeated San Diego State 76-59 in the final last year to take the 2023 NCAA title. Florida (2006 and 2007) is the last team to win back-to-back titles.
