Texas A&M Men’s Basketball Team Moves Up One Spot to No. 17 in AP Top 25 Rankings
The Texas A&M men’s basketball team jumped one spot in the latest Associated Press top 25 rankings released on Monday, March 13, with the Aggies currently sitting at No. 17.
Texas A&M (25-9, 15-3 SEC) went 2-1 this past week at the Southeastern Conference Tournament, winning its first two matchups -- against Arkansas on March 10 and Vanderbilt on March 11 -- before dropping the final game to Alabama, 82-63, on Sunday, March 12.
The Aggies, who concluded the regular season and SEC tournament in second place in the conference, received a 7-seed in the NCAA Tournament as Texas A&M is slated to face 12-seed Penn State on Thursday, March 16 in the first round of the Midwest Region.
The SEC currently has four teams in the top 25: No. 1 Alabama, No. 17 Texas A&M, No. 20 Tennessee and No. 23 Missouri, with Kentucky (No. 28) also receiving votes.
In addition to the five teams mentioned above, the SEC had a total of eight conference teams receive invites to the Big Dance on Selection Sunday, including overall No. 1-seed Alabama, Tennessee (4-seed), Kentucky (6-seed), Missouri (7-seed), Texas A&M (7-seed), Arkansas (8-seed), Auburn (9-seed) and Mississippi State (11-seed).
