Texas A&M Star Tyrece Radford Arrested On Evading Vehicle Charges
Texas A&M Aggies star basketball guard Tyrece Radford was arrested on Friday morning on charges of evading arrest with a vehicle, according to the Brazos-County website.
Radford is currently being held in the Brazos County Jail on Friday with an $8,000 bond. The Aggies return to Reed Arena on Saturday to take on Florida at 3 p.m.
According to the report, Radford fled from an officer “who was attempting to lawfully arrest or detain the defendant" on Dec. 3 around 2:47 a.m. Radford then sped past two officers on bicycles in the Northgate bar district in his Dodge Durango.
As Radford took off, officers reported a strong smell of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. Around 45 minutes later, the Durango was pulled over by A&M police in the same area, though Radford told law enforcement had not been driving when the car initially fled the scene.
After further evaluation with the help of several surveillance cameras, police determined that Radford lied about being the driver who fled the scene. A warrant was issued and Radford was later arrested Friday morning.
Texas A&M coach Buzz Williams commented briefly on the situation on Friday afternoon.
"I'm not supposed to talk about anything legal, but I'm completely aware of everything that's going on and have been," Williams said. "I love Boots. I love his parents."
