The Texas A&M Aggies men's basketball team moved to 7-2 on the young season behind 14 made baskets from beyond the arc with an 89-64 drubbing of the DePaul Blue Demons at Reed Arena in College Station on Wednesday night.

The 14 made 3-pointers are the second-most ever for an Aggies team - just behind the 16 made against Savannah State in December of 2017.

Texas A&M drained 45.2 percent of its long-range attempts - making 14-of-31 - which broke the old school record of 42.1 percent against Savannah State. Behind 11 made 3-pointers in the first half, the Aggies held a 62-30 halftime lead. The 62-point first-half barrage was the second-most by an Aggies team after a 65-point effort against Grambling State in 2006.

Six Aggies hit double-digit scoring totals including four of the five starters. Junior Jace Carter drained 14 including a season-high four 3s. Junior Wade Taylor IV and senior Henry Coleman III both hit 13 while senior Hayden Hefner, junior Many Obaseki and freshman Bryce Lindsay dropped in 10 apiece.

Coach Buzz Williams wasn't surprised by Carter's big shooting night.

"I believe in Jace. I've believed in him from the first time I ever met him in person. I absolutely adore what he's about on and off the floor. He's easy to cheer for, he's incredibly consistent as a worker and he has like qualities as a listener."

Coleman also pulled down a team-high 10 boards. Williams was happy to return home after a loss to Virginia on Nov. 29 and get the win.

No. 12 Aggies Men's Hoops Fall to No. 19 Florida Atlantic in ESPN Events Invitational

"I didn't necessarily think that we were going to set a school record regarding percentages and attempts, but I did think that being back home gave us the opportunity to get good work in. By the time everybody woke up Monday I felt like we were coming back to life and I thought that yesterday we were getting really close to normal. I also thought shootaround this afternoon was really good."

Next, the Aggies host the Memphis Tigers on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Reed Arena. The game will be televised on ESPN2.
