Aggies Lose Heartbreaker to Razorbacks with Buzzer-Beater
The Aggies got their first lead of the game with seven seconds remaining, but it wasn't enough as the Razorbacks scored on a floater as time expired for a 78-77 win at Bud Walton Arena on Tuesday night in Fayetteville.
Wade Taylor IV put A&M in front for the first time with a 3-pointer that pushed his scoring total to a career-high 41 with just seven ticks remaining in the game. The Aggies had fought back from an early 20-point hole to the Hogs and clawed back to within 14 at the half.
Arkansas junior guard Tramon Mark took the inbound after Taylor's 3-pointer the length of the court and tossed up a high-arcing floater that found the bottom of the net for the win.
It was the third time this season the Aggies roared back from at least 20 points down in a game. Taylor's 40 burger was the first 40-point game for A&M since Elston Turner scored 40 against Kentucky in 2013, and it matched the most points scored by an Aggie since 1985 when Don Marbury hit 41 against Baylor.
Tuesday also marked Taylor's fourth game this year with at least 30 points and his second straight. The Lancaster High School product made 13-of-32 field goals including five from beyond the arc, and hit 10-of-13 foul shots.
