Aggies Battling Texas For Four-Star DL Nigel Smith II
The Texas A&M Aggies have already made their mark on the 2024 cycle from a recruiting standpoint with the 12th-ranked class nationally and the No. 5 class in the SEC.
Five-star wideout Cam Coleman and a slew of four-star recruits headline the class and the Aggies aren't done. One of the biggest targets for A&M is four-star defensive lineman Nigel Smith II from Melissa, Texas.
Smith has targeted Sept. 8th as his announcement date, and the Aggies are high on his list. The other schools that made the cut for Smith late this summer are the Oklahoma Sooners, Penn State Nittany Lions, and Ohio State Buckeyes. But now, the Texas Longhorns are on that list too.
Smith is scheduled to visit Austin the weekend of Sept 2, the Longhorns regular-season opener against the Rice Owls. Smith paid an official visit to the Aggies and College Station back on June 23rd. He was also unofficially part of A&M's pool party last weekend.
It was Smith’s first visit to Texas A&M since his official last month and since the tragedy that struck Aggies’ defensive line coach Terry Price. Texas A&M is still very much involved in his recruitment heading into the fall, but it has some work to do to close the gap on the leading Sooners.
