Former Alabama Five-Star Transfer Dezz Ricks Commits to Texas A&M

The Texas A&M Aggies have landed one of the top talents in the NCAA Transfer Portal, in Alabama cornerback Dezz Ricks.
In this story:

After suffering extensive losses to the roster after the end of the regular season, the Texas A&M Aggies have been on a roll in the NCAA Transfer Portal, landing 22 commitments over the last couple of months.

And while they have secured a good deal of impact talent thus far, they could be in line to earn arguably the best of the bunch.

Now, another one has been secured, in former five-star Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback Dezz Ricks.

Ricks was coming off of an Aggies visit, and was heavily leaning toward A&M from the jump.

Ricks now becomes the 23rd commitment of the 2024 class for the Aggies, and the eighth defensive back of the group, joining UAB's BJ Mayes, Flordia's Jaydon Hill, Kansas State's Will Lee III and Cal Poly's Donovan Saunders at corner and San Diego State's Marcus Ratcliffe, Vanderbilt's De'Rickey Wright, Central Michigan's Trey Jones at safety.

Top Transfer Portal Names Texas A&M Could Still Target For 2024 Season

Ricks, who ranks as the No. 17 player in the portal, the No. 2 uncommitted prospect, and the No. 3 overall corner, would be a massive get for the Aggies, who are in desperate need of rebuilding their secondary.

As a recruit, Ricks was one of the highest-rated corners in the country, ranking as the No. 2 corner, No. 4 player in Florida, and No. 18 player nationally after reclassifying from the 2024 class to the 2023 class, per On3's Industry Ranking.

Now that Aggies have landed Ricks, he becomes one of their highest-rated incoming transfers behind only former Purdue edge rusher Nic Scourton and their highest rated defensive back in a class that already ranks as the No. transfer class in the country, per 247Sports.
