COLLEGE STATION - The XFL will hope to become the new football league to last during the spring. As team names, logos and coaches become announced, all that's left to do is add the new players.

The inaugural XFL Draft was held Monday morning as eight teams look to build their franchises for the start of the 2020 season. Following the set of skill players, offensive linemen were next to be selected. Despite Texas A&M being known for their skilled offensive weapons, one former Aggie offensive linemen tested his luck through the draft.

It looks like his decision paid off since he became one of the first linemen selected.

Former Texas A&M offensive lineman Avery Gennesey was selected in the third round of the offensive line portion of the XFL Inaugural Draft by the Houston Roughnecks. The 6'5' pass protector would be the 21st overall lineman prospect drafted by the league.

A transfer from East Mississippi Community College, Gennesey saw little action during the 2014 season due to his redshirt. In 2015, the Southhaven product would become a feature point of the Aggies offense as the team's starting left tackle. During that season, Texas A&M would average 424.7 yards per game.

Following the 2016 campaign, Gennesey would enter the draft. Following going undrafted, he would sign a contract with the Cleveland Browns. Gennesey also played with for the Jacksonville Jaguars as a member of their offseason program.

Most recently, Gennesy tested his skills the now-debunked AAF. Originally a member of the San Antonio Commanders, he would later sign with the Atlanta Legends and start at right tackle for seven games.

Gennesy becomes the fourth former Aggie to be drafted by the XFL. Running backs Christine Michael and Trey Williams made history as the St. Louis Battlehawks (6th overall) and Seattle Dragons' (7th overall) first picks in franchise history. Tight end Cam Clear would be drafted by the Dragons in the ninth round of skills portion of the draft.

The XFL Draft will take place on Monday, October 15 and Tuesday, October 16. For all the live information, follow the draft here or on XFL.com
