COLLEGE STATION, Texas - College Football is back, meaning so is ESPN's College Gameday. With the crew at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, early predictions were already made.

And while Texas A&M might play in the Southeastern Conference, many believe they can be a threat to contend. Despite losing a majority of their defense, the offense will be key toward their success.

ESPN's College Gameday's Desmond Howard believes the Aggies could take control of the SEC in 2019. Not only does the former Heisman winner think they're legit, but also they can contend early and defeat Clemson.

"Watch out for Texas A&M" said Howard. "Jimbo Fisher has put together a very, very strong program down there. Kellen Mond is back at the quarterback position. They (Alabama) has to travel to Texas A&M. That's going to be a very interesting game."

The Aggies are set on the offensive unit despite losing top running back Trayveon Williams and tight end Jace Sternberger to the NFL. Kendrick Rogers is expected to become a high prospect following success towards the end of the season while running back Jashaun Corbin will likely take over the feature.

The defense lost six members following the 2018 campaign. Still, led by preseason All-American defensive lineman Justin Madubuike and linebacker Buddy Johnson, A&M should rebound quick.

The Aggies are the first team since 1975 to face off against the AP's Preseason top three  teams. A&M will face No.1 Clemson on September 7, No.2 Alabama on October 12 and No.3 Georgia on November 23. Two of those games will be on the road (Clemson and Georgia).

A&M will begin their season next Thursday, Aug.29 at Kyle Field against Texas State.
