Stephen A. Smith Calls for Texas A&M Aggies To Hire Deion Sanders To Replace Jimbo Fisher

The Texas A&M Aggies search for a new head coach has begun, and ESPN's Stephen A. Smith is calling for Deion Sanders to be the choice.
In this story:

His name was always going to come up eventually.

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has been the talk of College Football since his arrival in Boulder last spring. And for good reason.

Outside of his giant personality, Sanders has also done a tremendous job with the Buffaloes, turning them from one of the worst programs in America into an up-and-coming Power 5 threat.

And with that, of course, will come speculation surrounding Sanders with every new significant job opening around the country.

That includes Texas A&M, where ESPN's Stephen A. Smith is campaigning for the Aggies to bring Coach Prime to College Station after the Sunday firing of Jimbo Fisher.

“Deion Sanders in the SEC," Smith said on an episode of ESPN's GetUp. "With that vault that they have available to them. Them hogs that he could recruit. He doesn’t have them at Colorado, and he ain’t going to get them. I don’t think they’ll do it. Texas A&M, Primetime, Deion Sanders in the SEC? That needs to happen.”

For the record, AllAggies.com does not believe Sanders will be the choice, either. In fact, he didn't even make it onto our hot board.

That's not to say that they will not vet him as a candidate, but at the end of the day, Texas A&M will be looking to hire someone with more proven experience, and preferably a championship pedigree.

Still, that will not stop ESPN from pushing the Sanders narrative. In fact, Smith has not been the only ESPN employee to mention Sanders' name either, with Paul Finebaum hinting at it as well.

“I think (Dan) Lanning is probably the best choice but he’s got a tremendous buyout at Oregon too,” Finebaum said. “You’re gonna hear every name in the book, including Deion Sanders. So, we’re gonna come back to that one later.”

All that said, this also doesn't mean a big-time college football program won't take their chance on Sanders soon either.

We just do not believe it will be Texas A&M. At least not in this cycle.
