Texas A&M officially knows its schedule for the 2024 season. So do the other 15 programs in the SEC as they race toward making the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff.

The Aggies open up the Mike Elko era against Notre Dame as part of a home-and-home series on Aug. 31 at Kyle Field. Elko, who was hired to replace Jimbo Fisher after a two-year stay at Duke, was hired by Fisher from Notre Dame in 2018 as A&M's defensive coordinator.

A&M remains at home for a Week 2 matchup against McNeese State (Sept. 7) before hitting the road for its first SEC game against Florida (Sept. 14). The Aggies will return to Kyle Field to take on Bowling Green (Sept. 21) before playing the final Southwest Classic against Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

The Aggies also have home games against Missouri (Oct. 5), LSU (Oct. 26), New Mexico State (Nov. 16) and Texas (Nov. 30). The Lone Star Showdown makes it return to Kyle Field for the first time since 2011 as the Longhorns join the SEC, along with Oklahoma.

Along with Florida, A&M will have road games against Mississippi State (Oct. 19), South Carolina (Nov. 2) and Auburn (Nov. 23). The SEC Championship will take place in Atlanta, Ga., among the top two teams on Dec. 7.

The SEC will remove divisions as the conference expands to 16 teams. A&M will also have two bye weeks this season, one coming on Oct. 12 and Nov. 9 after matchups against Missouri and LSU.

For Elko, the schedule in Year 1 bodes well for the program. A&M won't face Alabama for the first time since joining the SEC in 2012, and also won't take on perennial powerhouse Georgia. Ole Miss, which is 3-0 against the Aggies since the hiring of Lane Kiffin, also won't be taking on the program looking to pick up nine wins for the first time since 2020.

The top four matchups — all of which could be against ranked opponents — all take place in College Station, thus giving a competitive advantage to the Aggies.
