Texas A&M Aggies Enter As A Double-Digit Underdog Against LSU Tigers
Texas A&M will have a chance to end its season on a three-game winning streak and a tie for third place in the SEC West with a win over No. 15 LSU on Saturday.
Vegas, however, does not believe the Aggies will be able to pull off the upset at 11 a.m. in Tiger Stadium.
The Aggies enter Saturday's contest as a 12.5-point underdog in their final SEC game of the regular season. The line initially opened at 8, but spiked within the past 48 hours.
A&M (7-4, 4-3 SEC) is riding high following its 38-10 win over Abilene Christian under interim coach Elijah Robinson in the home finale. The Aggies also bested the then-No. 5 Tigers at Kyle Field last season 38-23, marking the end of a six-game losing streak to SEC opponents.
The Tigers (8-3, 5-2) are currently tied for second place in the SEC West with Ole Miss. Both losses came in division play to the Rebels and Alabama, but LSU rebounded to pick up victories over Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Auburn.
LSU might not have the night advantage in years past, but home-field advantage has factored into its success against A&M. The Tigers have won the previous five matchups against the Aggies at Tiger Stadium, including a 27-24 comeback in the closing minutes back in 2021.
The Tigers feature the best statistical offense in college football, leading the nation in both total yards (562.2 yards per game) and scoring (46.8 points per game). Heisman front-runner Jayden Daniels continues to dazzle as both a passer and runner, totaling over 4,500 yards of offense and 46 touchdowns.
Daniels, who became the second SEC player to finish with over 3,500 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards, threw for 413 yards and scored eight touchdowns in LSU's 56-14 win over Georgia State. Since November, the senior has completed 70.4 percent of his passes for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns against one interception.
He's also rushed for 493 yards and scored five TDs.
Aggies Week 13 Preview: LSU
"He's grown so much since last year. He's not up for the Heisman for no reason," Robinson said of Daniels. "He's talented, he's smart, he makes great decisions. He protects the football. So he's a challenge."
The Aggies are most likely projected to play in the Texas Bowl against one of several Big 12 teams, including Oklahoma State, West Virginia and Kansas State. A&M played Oklahoma State at NRG Stadium in 2019, winning 24-21.
