Texas A&M Aggies Hire Tommy Moffitt As Director Of Strength And Conditioning
COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M has a new strength and conditioning coach, and he comes with over two decades of experience in the Southeastern Conference.
The Aggies have officially hired Tommy Moffitt for the open position, the university announced via social media Tuesday afternoon. Moffitt was at LSU from 2000-2021 but was not retained by Brian Kelly when Kelly joined the program from Notre Dame in place of Ed Orgeron in 2022.
Moffitt knows what it takes to win it all. He helped the Tigers win national titles in 2003, 2007, and 2019 under three different coaching staffs and is considered one of the top strength coaches in the nation.
Since being let go by the Tigers, Moffitt has been in private business, working with athletes away from school.
Prior to his arrival in Baton Rouge, Moffitt worked at Tennessee and Miami. The Tennesee native helped both programs build an identity en route to winning national titles in 1998 and 2001, respectively.
Brandon Sanders has been A&M’s head strength & conditioning coach since January 2022. Former A&M coach Jimbo Fisher hired longtime Oklahoma coach Jerry Schmidt for the same position in 2018. Schmidt eventually left the program to return to Norman in 2021.
Mike Elko continues to rid A&M of old habits in hopes of creating a new culture. Since being hired, Elko has let go of multiple staffers, including offensive line coach Steve Addazio and receivers coach Dameyune Craig. He also hired Kansas State offensive coordinator and 2012 Heisman Trophy finalist Collin Klein as his new OC.
