Texas A&M Aggies Men's Basketball will be without one of their top scorers from last season to begin the 2023-24 campaign.

Forward Julius Marble is not participating in team activities while he undergoes a “university process,” A&M head coach Buzz Williams said Thursday. Marble was absent from the team’s local media day at Reed Arena and did not participate in A&M's closed-off scrimmage against Baylor last week.

“I’m not privy to any of that, so I can’t comment on it further. But that’s where it stands,” Williams said.

Marble, a 6-foot-9 forward who joined the Aggies from Michigan State, played in 35 games last season, 30 of which were starts. He finished fourth on the team in points scored (9.1), fifth in rebounds (4.1) and fifth in minutes (20.8).

The No. 15 Aggies have options if Marble is unable to begin the season on the active roster. A&M returns star forward and starter Henry Coleman, along with backups Anderrson Garcia and Solomon Washington.

Garica averaged 3.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 16.5 minutes per game. Washington averaged 3.2 points and 12.2 minutes per contest.

A&M also added Massachusetts graduate transfer Wildens Leveque this offseason. Leveque has experience playing in the SEC, starting his career at South Carolina before transferring last offseason.

The Aggies take the court for the first time Sunday in the Compete 4 Cause Classic exhibition showcase against Texas Tech at UNT's Super Pit in Denton. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., or following the conclusion of the first exhibition game between North Texas and Sam Houston State.

A&M opens the season against Texas A&M-Commerce at 7 p.m. on Nov. 6. at Reed Arena. The Aggies will then travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State on Nov. 10.
