'Second to None' Four-Star QB Husan Longstreet Loves Texas A&M Aggies Ahead of Decision
The Texas A&M Aggies are searching for the next quarterback of the future.
One of the top names on that list is Centennial (Corona, CA) 2025 four-star QB Husan Longstreet, who is set to make his commitment on April 14, where he will choose between Texas A&M, Auburn Ole Miss, Miami, Michigan, Auburn, Lousiville, UCLA and Oregon.
On Tuesday, On3 Recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong gave some insight on where the Aggies stand for Longstreet ahead of his decision.
"I get the sense Texas A&M is hanging on to the lead they’ve built in this recruitment of since the Corona (Calif.) Centennial standout visited the first weekend of February," Wiltfong said. "A lead I had thought was getting real shaky last week even prior to the latest Auburn visit."
But why is Longstreet seemingly leaning toward the Aggies over QB gurus like Hugh Freeze, Lane Kiffin and others?
According to Wiltfong, it has a lot to do with their new addition at offensive coordinator, Collin Klein, who Texas A&M hired this offseason as part of head coach Mike Elko's new coaching staff.
"The reason Texas A&M is at the top is the relationship with offensive coordinator Collin Klein and the potential the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Longstreet sees for himself playing for the Aggies offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach," Wiltfong said.
As it stands, Longstreet is ranked as the No. 51 player nationally, the No. 6 QB, and the No. 2 player in California per the On3 Industry ranking. 247 Sports has Longstreet ranked the highest of any major recruiting service, placing him as the No. 28 player in the country, No. 1 player in California, and No. 5 QB.
Texas A&M and Auburn are seen as the top two contenders for Longstreet overall.
