Often times last season, offense was a struggle for the Texas A&M Aggies.

Though it was just one of many shortcomings for Texas A&M in 2023, it was perhaps the biggest of the bunch and a driving force behind their 7-6 record.

In 2024 under new head coach Mike Elko, and first-year offensive coordinator Collin Klein, however, the Aggies are looking to change all of that.

And midway through spring practice, Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman is thoroughly enjoying Klein's new offense.

“He’s awesome," Weigman said of Klein and the new offense. "I’m trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can.”

But what is it that makes the offense so appealing to Weigman.

For one thing, Klein's system has an adept ability to get pass catchers open consistently for the quarterback, and get the ball in the hands of playmakers. On top of that, it also allows the offense to play fast, which Weigman - just like most modern QBs - loves.

“Receivers are always open," Weigman said. "As a quarterback, you have to love that. Being able to play fast, get the ball out quick, and getting it to your playmakers, it’s going to be fun.”

However, that is not the only change coming to the Aggies offense. Klein is also aiming to instill a tough and physical identity.

Last season, that wasn't always the case. But in 2024, it will be a critial aspect of what they are trying to do.

“Physicality and toughness is what he preaches, and that’s how he played," Weigman said. "It’s cool to see it coming out as a coach.”

Aggies fans will get their first look at the new offense on April 20 when the Aggies take the field for their annual spring game.
