Texas A&M Aggies vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs: How to Watch, Betting Odds
The Aggies host the Bulldogs at Kyle Field on Saturday hoping to become bowl-eligible with their sixth win of the season. After missing out on bowl games in the last two seasons, Texas A&M can break that skid with one win in its next three contests.
Head coach Jimbo Fisher would like for that to happen this weekend against the Bulldogs. A&M sits at 5-4, just one win away from the six required to participate in a bowl game. The Aggies qualified in 2021 at 8-4 but had to decline an invitation due to not having enough players to play due to illness.
Last season's 5-7 tally sent A&M home after the final regular season game.
A win over Mississippi State would also keep the Aggies from falling to .500 on the year, a mark that some would consider an embarrassment with the talent up and down the roster.
If A&M loses to the Bulldogs, it'll have two more opportunities against Abilene Christian and LSU for bowl eligibility.
Aggies quarterback Max Johnson is expected to start after taking several big hits in the 38-35 loss to Ole Miss last week in Oxford. He'll be facing a defense that is ranked No. 66 nationally allowing 229.9 yards per game through the air. Last week, Johnson threw for a season-high 305 yards in the loss.
The Bulldogs are trying to snap a two-game losing streak with losses to Auburn and Kentucky. Wideout Lideatrick Griffin leads Mississippi State with 554 yards receiving and registered a school record 256 yards in a loss to South Carolina back in September.
The Bulldogs have won the last two against the Aggies, and have forced at least one turnover in 10 of their last 145 games.
