Texas A&M Remains Unranked Following Victory Over Ole Miss
COLLEGE STATION - Texas A&M bounced back following their loss to Alabama with a victory on the road. Thanks to strong defensive play and the emergence of Isaiah Spiller, the Aggies held on to defeat Ole Miss, 24-17.
Overall, the win came with its fair share of struggles. Kellen Mond was consistently under pressure while his arm did little favors. The junior threw a pair of interceptions early, one leading to an eventual scoring drive for the Rebels.
While the Aggies move to 4-3, that doesn't make them a top team just yet. Although several teams inside the AP Poll's Top 25 fell, a near late comeback could have hurt the Aggies' chances to be a three-loss ranked team.
The AP voters would agree. As of Sunday's latest rankings, A&M remains unranked heading into Week 9 of the College Football season.
There was little surprise at the top as all four teams remained the same. Clemson, however, did move down to the No.4 spot after struggling early against Louisville. Ohio State moved up to No.3 following their 52-3 victory over Northwestern. Oklahoma rounded out the top five.
Five teams from the Southeastern Conference come in ranked, all inside of the top 10. Alabama and LSU remained at No.1 and No.2 respectively following their sure-fire wins. Meanwhile, Florida jumped up three spots to No.7 after their victory against South Carolina. Auburn moved up two places following their 51-10 victory over Arkansas.
Georgia remained at the No.10 spot after holding off Kentucky, 21-0. Fellow SEC school Missouri would become unranked following their 21-14 loss to Vanderbilt. The Tigers were originally ranked No.22.
The Aggies will face Mississippi State on Saturday, October 26, at 11:00 A.M. at Kyle Field. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
