It's a new era in Aggieland this upcoming football season as new coach Mike Elko continues to put his fingerprints all over the program.

All eyes will be on the Aggies and how they fare in the "new look" SEC as the University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas join the fold, and the Aggies and Longhorns renew their rivalry that dates back to 1894.

USA Today updated its win-loss prediction for every team in the SEC and suggests the Aggies will improve from last season's 7-6 record to 9-3 in 2024.

"Wimberly and I are on the same page with this one, mainly due to new head coach Mike Elko’s tremendous job acquiring talent through the transfer portal.

"At the same time, quarterback Conner Weigman is set to make his comeback after missing the Aggie’s final eight games due to injury last season. Plus, the schedule is very manageable on paper."

USA Today predicts the Longhorns to have the best win total in the SEC at 12-0, meaning, of course, they beat the Aggies in the Nov. 30 matchup at Kyle Field.

Georgia is second with a predicted 11-1 record followed by Ole Miss also at 11-1 and the Tennessee Volunteers at 10-2.

The Aggies' win total puts them at No. 5 in the league, along with Auburn, Oklahoma and LSU also projected to go 9-3.

Alabama - in Kalen DeBoer's first season - is predicted to go 8-4 along with the Missouri Tigers, while Kentucky is projected to post a 6-6 tally along with Mississippi State.

South Carolina is No. 13 on the list with a projected 4-8 record, while Arkansas is predicted to go 3-9, almost certainly putting Sam Pittman on the hot seat as quarterback K.J. Jefferson has transferred to UCF.

Vanderbilt is No. 15 with a 3-9 prediction and Florida is projected to finish last in the league with a 2-9 record.
