What If Deion Sanders Was Texas A&M's Next Head Coach?

Colorado Buffaloes' Deion Sanders would be a perfect candidate for the Texas A&M Aggies' next head coach.

Texas A&M Aggies head coach Jimbo Fisher has faced criticisms yet again after losing to the Miami Hurricanes and putting a huge dent in their College Football Playoff chances.

However, amidst the criticisms of the Aggies falling ont their face yet again in the big moment, the internet pondered what it would be like in College Station if another Power Five head coach were at the helm.

"Can you imagine Deion recruiting as the head coach for Texas A&M," Saturday Down South said in a post on X. "Huge program, major NIL resources, & recruiting in Texas."

Sanders has become the biggest story in college football, leading the Colorado Buffaloes to a 2-0 start — more wins than their entire 2021 campaign — with victories over then-No. 17 TCU and Nebraska.

Sanders has revived the culture of Colorado football and proving yet again that he can win anywhere. He left Jackson State with the highest win percentage in program history, winning back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference titles and making the program's second and third-ever bowl game appearances in 2021-22.

Sanders brought in 51 new players from the transfer portal, headlined by new Heisman Trophy contenders in quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Deion Sanders' son, and two-way player Travis Hunter.

The Buffaloes appear to be stampeding their way to their first bowl game appearance since 2020, and Sanders deserves a big portion of the credit — though he'll be quick to defer it to the players.

His motivation tactics have led to Colorado not sleep-walking into any contests and dominating the opponent across from them.

The play on the field has translated into monetary gains. The only game that has face-value tickets still available is the Buffaloes' game against Arizona Nov. 11, according to Colorado's ticketing website.

Last week's contest against the Cornhuskers was at 106.1 percent capacity at Folsom Field, while 8.73 million people watched on FOX — the second-most viewed behind Texas-Alabama.

After Big Noon Kickoff was in Boulder, Colorado, last week, ESPN's "College GameDay" will be there this weekend for the Buffaloes' game against Colorado State.

Deion Sanders has helped vault his son's and Hunter's NIL valuations to the highest and fourth-highest in college football, respectively.

Shedeur Sanders only trails LeBron James' son, Bronny James, as the highest-valued college athlete. Hunter is the sixth-highest-valued college athlete, trailing James, Sanders, LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, Texas quarterback Arch Manning and reigning Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, USC's Caleb Williams.

Aggies wide receiver Evan Stewart's valued at $1.7 million — the No. 7-ranked college athlete on On3's NIL Top 100.

If Sanders stepped in as Texas A&M's head coach, the mania in College Station would be the highest they have been since Johnny Manziel's playing days.

Donors would flood the football program, even better recruits than Texas A&M already gets would be attracted to the Aggies and what better motivator to translate the incoming talent into on-field success than Deion Sanders, who is on the verge of reviving his second program in as many college coaching stops.

Colorado transitions to the Big 12 next season and Shedeur Sanders would be a senior. If the Buffaloes continue their climb and after Shedeur Sanders goes on to the NFL, Deion Sanders may look towards taking a step up the ladder in his coaching career.

By that point, Deion Sanders would be nearing, if not already passed age 60, and looking to win a national championship if he doesn't do so at Colorado.

Texas A&M has the money, recruits and facilities. All it needs is the right coach.
