Aggies Land Commitment From Youngstown State LB Alex Howard

The Texas A&M Aggies landed a valuable commitment through the NCAA Transfer Portal on Saturday

The Texas A&M Aggies landed a key addition via the NCAA Transfer Portal on Saturday afternoon, earning a commitment from Youngstown State linebacker Alex Howard.

Howard announced his commitment on X, joining recent commits, Old Dominion wide receiver Javon Harvey and defensive back Will Lee from Kansas State.

He will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Spending the last four seasons with the Penguins, Howard amassed 142 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, a forced fumble and an interception in 38 career games.

In 2023, Howard played in 13 games, racking up 76 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss 3.5 sacks and an interception.

The commitment of Howard could not have come at a better time for the Aggies, who have lost a good deal of key players to the transfer portal and the NFL Draft.

In fact, arguably the biggest loss to the defense came at the linebacker spot, with All-American Edgerrin Cooper declaring for the NFL Draft less than a week ago, leaving a massive void at the position.

Cooper could be the first linebacker taken off the board in the draft.

Howard will now be able to help fill that role, alongside true freshman star Taurean York, who is as bright of an up-and-coming prospect as there is on the Aggies roster.

Howard's experience should help keep the linebacker position together, while the Aggies work to rebuild a roster that has been decimated by losses.
