The first half hasn't been the greatest for the Texas A&M Aggies, but it has just gotten worse.

Quarterback Conner Weigman went down with what appeared to be a left ankle injury in the second quarter against the Auburn Tigers and limped to the locker room with about four and a half minutes to go in the first half.

Junior Max Johnson replaced Weigman to begin the third quarter.

ESPN sideline reporter Kris Budden said that Weigman was shouting in pain on the sidelines while being looked over by team trainers. Weigman's status to return to the game is unknown at this time.

Weigman is currently 8-for-14 for 70 yards in almost a complete first half, starting 7-of-8 before closing the opening frame 1-for-6. This season through three games, Weigman has completed 70.48 percent of his 105 pass attempts for 909 yards with eight touchdowns and two interceptions.

Johnson, who started 18 games at LSU prior to his arrival at Texas A&M, competed for the starting job with Wegiman throughout fall camp. Last season, he started three games, picking up wins over then-No. 13 Miami and then-No. 10 Arkansas, before suffering a season-ending hand injury.

In two games, Johnson has completed 13-of-20 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns. Last season, he threw for 517 yards and three touchdowns in four games.

While Johnson can serve as a game manager, the Aggies are currently in a 6-3 dogfight at halftime. Texas A&M has averaged 4.3 yards on 12 carries led by LeVeon Moss' 46 yards on four drives.
