Aggies WR Ainias Smith Makes ESPN Top 100
As Texas A&M Aggies wideout and part-time running back Ainias Smith enters his final season in College Station, he's considered one of the more important offensive pieces to Jimbo Fisher's puzzle this year.
And Smith is getting all the national attention he deserves too, being included in ESPN’s Top 100 players for 2023, coming in at No. 67 as the only Aggies included in the rankings.
No. 67 Ainias Smith, Texas A&M Aggies
"Arguably the biggest win of the offseason for the Aggies was getting Smith to return for his senior season. He’s as dynamic a playmaker as anyone in the SEC, whether he’s lining up at receiver, running back, or returning kicks and punts. In four seasons, he’s amassed 2,804 yards from scrimmage."
Smith's season ended prematurely last year after an injury suffered against Arkansas and he was held to just four games. The star wideout was well on his way to a career year before being helped off the field at AT&T Stadium. The shifty slot receiver had already registered 15 catches for 291 yards and two touchdowns before the injury, as well as three carries for 11 yards.
Smith announced his return to College Station for his final year of eligibility back in January, much to the delight of Aggies fans everywhere. During his collegiate career, Smith has 112 catches for 1,321 yards and six scores and has rushed 64 times for 373 yards and four more touchdowns. Smith is also a dynamic kick and punt returner.
