Former Aggies CB Denver Harris Ranked No. 2 in 2023 Transfer Portal
The Texas A&M Aggies lost arguably their top prospect of the 2022 class to the NCAA Transfer Portal back in December when, in North Shore (Houston, TX) cornerback, Denver Harris announced he would be leaving College Station.
Harris then announced not long after that he would transfer to LSU for the 2023 season with three years of eligibility remaining with the Tigers under second-year coach Brian Kelly.
When 247Sports announced its updated transfer rankings for the 2023 class on Wednesday, Harris was near the top at No. 2 overall. And LSU couldn't be happier to have him.
“We did a lot of research. This was not a decision where said this is just a great player,” Kelly told the media at the start of spring practice. “We did our due diligence and met with him several times. He had a lot of people speak on his behalf and a number of interviews with coach House and myself. We felt with the culture that we had put together here that he would make it.
“He’s done well early on and he has no choice. He has to make it.,” Kelly added. “Here’s a guy that has been given a second chance. We feel like that with the circumstances of culture being strong here and him knowing that this is really his last chance at an SEC opportunity that is worth the risk. So far, it’s been good.”
Harris left College Station after multiple issues off of the field, including multiple suspensions due to a curfew violation and a post-game locker room incident.
The North Shore product played in five games in 2022 for the Aggies, making 14 total tackles and three pass deflections in those appearances.
