Aggies Ex-QB Kellen Mond To Start NFL Hall Of Fame Game
The Texas A&M Aggies are on the cusp of a new season and getting ready to hopefully compete for an SEC title and possibly more. And there are several Aggies that have moved on to the NFL that are also preparing for a new season.
The traditional first game of an NFL new season is kicked off at the annual Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio which corresponds with the enshrinement of the new class into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
This year's Hall of Fame game will feature the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets as both have links to incoming inductees. Deshaun Watson is not expected to start for the Browns in Thursday night's exhibition game, and according to reports, former Aggies quarterback Kellen Mond will take snaps
While spending four seasons with Aggies football from 2017 to 2020, Mond threw for 9,661 yards with 71 touchdowns and 17 interceptions with a career 132.0 passer rating. He added just over 1,600 yards and 22 more touchdowns on the ground. Mond finished his collegiate career as one of three SEC quarterbacks, along with Tim Tebow and Dak Prescott, to record over 9,000 career passing yards and 1,500 rushing yards.
Mond was the 66th overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Vikings and spent all of that season in Minnesota. He was claimed by waivers by the Browns in August of 2022.
