Former Texas A&M Transfer Commit Heading to ACC

Elijah Alston, who was committed to the Texas A&M Aggies for less than 24 hours, is now heading to the ACC to play for the Miami Hurricanes.
In this story:

The Texas A&M Aggies got a flurry of transfer commitments over the last few days, and have racked up a total of 21 players through the portal since the hiring of new head coach Mike Elko.

However, one of those players changed course, with former Marshall Thundering Herd transfer Elijah Alston - who had just committed to the Aggies on Monday - picking the Miami Hurricanes.

The edge rusher was committed to Texas A&M for less than 24 hours before de-committing earlier this week.

Alston, who ranked as the No. 299 player in the portal and No. 24 defensive lineman, was a two-star recruit as a member of the 2019 class.

Over the last four seasons with the Thundering Herd, Alston played in 41 games, making 107 tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, and 9.5 sacks, with an interception he returned for a score.

In 2023 alone, Alston has a career year, amassing 11.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, 45 tackles and an interception.

He was set to join an incoming transfer class that includes two other impact edges with the Big Ten's leading sack artist Nic Scourton from Purdue and former Florida pass rusher Scooby Williams.

Now, he heads to Coral Gables, as the lone edge rusher of the transfer haul thus far for the Hurricanes.
