Game Predictions: Can Aggies Win Back-to-Back vs. Miami?
After hosting New Mexico in Week 1, the Texas A&M football travels to South Beach to take on the new-look Miami Hurricanes in Week 2. After a 17-9 win at Kyle Field last season, the Aggies will have their hands full with a new and improved Mario Cristobal squad.
The biggest question for the Aggies is at quarterback and offensive line. Both position groups should be better, and the revamped offense under Bobby Petrino could contribute to that. The defense is the strength of this club as it has been for a number of years under Jimbo Fisher, and it's stout once again.
Miami dealt with health issues last year at key positions, especially at quarterback, but should be healthy against the Aggies in Week 2, and that could cause trouble for A&M at Hard Rock Stadium.
Let's take a look at our AllAggies.com staff predictions for Aggies vs. Hurricanes in South Florida on Sept. 9.

Texas A&M pulled off a big win vs. the Hurricanes last season, and the Aggies look much better offensively in 2023. Miami should be improved as well, but I think Conner Weigman gets a big win for his career here, and the Aggies roll.

After a warm-up against the Lobos at Kyle Field in Week 1, the Aggies have a tough road matchup against Miami. This is not last season's Hurricanes and A&M will have issues with this new Miami offense. The Canes take advantage of home field and pull away late after a fourth-quarter Aggies turnover.

I first said Miami would win this game by six during our way-too-early predictions. That was before Conner Weigman decided to go Super Saiyan against New Mexico, tossing five touchdowns before his day was done. Miami's offense will give fits on the ground for A&M's front seven, but there's evident chemistry in the passing game with Weigman, Noah Thomas, and Evan Stewart.
Expect Ainias Smith to be targeted on third down to keep drives alive. He might be the Aggies' x-factor in picking up their second win under Bobby Petrio's play-calling.

A brutal 17-9 Aggies victory last season that was hard to watch, to say the least, epitomized the lackluster offense that won Texas A&M just two conference games a year ago. Miami may not be in the conference, but it does pack a non-conference punch higher than any other non-SEC teams the Aggies will face next season, so it will be a chance for them to prove they aren’t messing around after crushing New Mexico.
Returning quarterback Conner Weigman will have a solid game — at least one worthy of a higher passer rating than the 34 that Max Johnson had last year — and the Aggies should overpower the Hurricanes.
Aggies 28, Hurricanes 14
Casey Smith - Writer
Texas A&M won last year's first game in the home-and-home series against Miami 17-9, and in the return game at Hard Rock Stadium, expect there to be a little more scoring with a pair of quarterbacks trying to prove themselves.
Aggies' gunslinger Conner Weigman showed poise and picked apart New Mexico's defense last week and would like to show his five-touchdown performance wasn't a fluke, while Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke was regarded last year as a fringe top-10 quarterback but didn't live up to the billing, throwing for 1,835 yards and 10 touchdowns to five interceptions and hopes to rewrite people's opinions on him.
