Texas A&M vs. Texas: Longhorns' Offensive Players to Watch
The most anticipated matchup of the season for the Texas A&M Aggies will feature no shortage of talent.
Concluding their regular season at home is what Mike Elko's squad had hoped for, but despite the home-field advantage they'll have, the bigger challenge stands in their opponent. A rivalry matchup against the Texas Longhorns with trip to the SEC Championship won't be easy.
The Aggies have talent — a strong defense and an offensive powered by Marcel Reed are indicators of it — but a slew of Longhorn weapons on the offensive end are among the most talented in the country.
If they want to defend Kyle Field and earn a late-season win, they'll have to withstand whatever Texas throws out. Or, in this case, whoever.
Here are three names to watch:
Quinn Ewers, Quarterback
Now in his third season with the Longhorns, Ewers has taken the spotlight in Burnt Orange threads. Even with the addition of Arch Manning, Ewers is still the No. 1 option in Austin, and he's listed as PROBABLE on the first iteration of the SEC-mandated injury report, meaning he's likely to be under center when Saturday rolls around.
This season, Ewers is 89-of-278 for 2,089 yards, 23 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. With as much momentum as Texas is riding entering Saturday, if he finds a groove in the pocket, it could be a long day for the Aggies' secondary.
Quintrevion Wisner, Running Back
Going from a year with 12 carries to one with 124 is certainly a jump not too many players see. Wisner, after a relatively quiet first quarter, has taken a step forward with the Longhorns in Year 2. This season, he's tallied 626 yards and three touchdowns, and proven to be a legitimate threat in the backfield.
While the Aggies are watching Ewers, Wisner could end up with a sneaky good performance, and when trying to protect home field, that's never a good thing.
Isaiah Bond, Wide Receiver
While Ryan Williams is turning heads in Tuscaloosa, Al., former Alabama receiver Isaiah Bond has been playing strong in Austin with the Longhorns.
Last season, Bond tallied just over 600 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and this year he's already eclipsed the latter figure with one more game to play. He's notched 510 yards on 32 receptions and five touchdowns, making him a top target for Ewers.
