Texas A&M Alum Justin Madubuike Agrees to Massive Extension With Ravens
The only question regarding for Texas A&M Aggies defensive takle Justin Madubuike's pending free agency was if the Baltimore Ravens were going to be able to agree to a long-term extension or place him on the franchise tag.
On the final day the tag can be placed, we seemingly finally got our answer, with Madubuike being tagged by Baltimore to the tune of $22 million for one season.
However, just days later, things have now changed
On Friday, Baltimore came to an agreement with the Pro Bowl defensive tackle on a massive four-year $98 million that includes $75.5 million guaranteed.
According to the reports, Madubuike will also get $53.5 million at the time of his signing.
By agreeing to the deal, the Ravens will also reduce his $22 million cap hit.
"We are pleased to announce a four-year extension with Justin Madubuike," Ravens GM Eric DeCosta said in a statement. "Justin is one of the best defensive tackles in the entire NFL and a cornerstone on our defense. We are thrilled for Justin and his family and equally happy for our fanbase. This is a great way to start the new league year!"
'Blown Away!' Collin Klein Reveals What Drew Him To Texas A&M
In 2023, the former third-round pick out of Texas A&M notched a career-high in sacks (13), while being named a first-time Pro Bowl and second-team All-Pro nominee. Madubuike finished ninth in Defensive Player of the Year voting due to the fact it's very rare to see interior defensive linemen tally double-digit sack totals in a single season.
Over his three seasons in College Station, Madubuike registered 105 total tackles with 43 solo, 11 sacks, 24.5 tackles for loss, one interception and five forced fumbles over 34 games from 2017-2019.
