Tampa Bay WR Mike Evans To Miss Extended Time After Injury on Monday Night Football

The Canton-bound receiver aggravated his hamstring while reaching for a touchdown pass Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens.

The good news? Mike Evans stayed off the injured reserve list.

The bad news? He might as well be on the list.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles announced Tuesday afternoon that star receiver Mike Evans had suffered a "moderate" hamstring injury against the Baltimore Ravens Monday night and would likely be sidelined until after the team's week 11 bye.

Evans suffered the injury in the second quarter while going up to catch a pass in the end zone. The Texas A&M alum immediately went down and grabbed the back of his leg afterward.

Evans was able to make a contribution to his team before going down, though, hauling in his lone catch for a 25-yard touchdown, his 100th of his Hall of Fame-worthy career.

To this point in the season, Evans has 26 receptions for 335 yards and six receiving touchdowns, tied with Cincinnati Bengals receiver Ja'Marr Chase for the league lead.

As if losing Evans and also the game wasn't bad enough for Tampa Bay, they also lost their other star wide receiver Chris Godwin to an ankle injury, which will most likely require season-ending surgery. Godwin will finish the season with 50 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns.

With Godwin out, Evans should expect a hefty load of targets from Baker Mayfield whenever he does return to the field, so there's an upside for those who have the 11-year veteran on their fantasy football teams.

Despite the loss, the Bucs are still tied with the Atlanta Falcons for the NFC South lead at 4-3 apiece, which comes at the perfect time as the two teams will face off this weekend in Tampa Bay at 12:00 CT for control of the division.
