12th Man Foundation Launches 12th Man+ NIL Fund
Texas A&M is getting into the name, image, and likeness game for the impending season.
According to Texas A&M athletics, the 12th Man Foundation has launched the 12th Man+ Fund, a new initiative aimed at furthering the organization’s mission while enhancing the student-athlete experience at Texas A&M through name, image, and likeness (NIL) opportunities.
All student-athletes on campus who engage in the 12th Man Foundation will qualify for fair market value compensation to promote the organization’s mission through marketing services such as social media posts, appearances at events and speaking engagements.
“With their support of 12th Man+, donors have the ability to position Aggie student-athletes to become leaders in NIL while furthering the 12th Man Foundation’s mission of funding championship athletics,” 12th Man Foundation President & CEO Travis Dabney said in a statement released by Texas A&M athletics Wednesday morning. “Supporting this endeavor is also essential to giving Texas A&M Athletics a competitive edge in college athletics.”
Through the 12th Man+ Funds, fans and boosters will have the ability to donate direct donations to benefit student-athletes in the sport of their choice. Contributors will also have the ability to support a general fund with a one-time donation or a recurring gift for distribution among student-athletes across all sports.
According to the 12th Man+ press release, the donor support will ensure that all current and future Texas A&M student-athletes will have a fair and equal opportunity to receive compensation for using their NIL to promote the 12th Man Foundation’s mission.
All 12th Man+ donations are tax-deductible and all proceeds from boosters and donors will go toward the 12th Man+ fund. The fund will be used solely for contracted NIL marketing opportunities and directly related administrative expenses.
All sports will benefit from the new fund, including Texas A&M football, basketball, and baseball. The Aggies men's basketball team will face off against Arkansas at Reed Arena on Wednesday evening. The Aggies baseball will begin their 2023 season on Friday at Blue Bell Park with a three-game series against Seattle University.
Texas A&M football will open the 2023 season at Kyle Field on Sept. 2 against New Mexico.
