Aggies Men's Hoops vs. Mississippi State: How to Watch, Preview

The Bulldogs stand in the way of Texas A&M's quest toward an SEC title, and will face the streaking Aggies at home, looking to disrupt its momentum heading into the final games of the regular season.
In this story:

Following a critical home victory over No. 11 ranked Tennessee, the Texas A&M Aggies (21-7, 13-2 SEC) have not stopped rolling.

But the next challenge comes on the road, this time against the Mississippi State Bulldogs (18-10, 6-9 SEC).

This season, both of the Aggies' two conference losses have come on the road, while Mississippi State has won three of its last four at home.

The road trip to Starkville will be the first of two road games for Texas A&M before it returns home to face Alabama to close the regular season — a game that will only grow in importance should the Aggies add two more wins before then.

The key for the Aggies will be capitalizing on their momentum — which has taken the form of a six-game win streak — and taking advantage of the Bulldogs' last-second overtime loss against Missouri in their last game.

Despite the loss, however, the Bulldogs found hints of success in senior forward Tolu Smith, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Smith is the team's leading scorer but also leads the SEC in field goal percentage.

Defensively, the Aggies will look to slow down Smith's production, but also stay aggressive — aiming to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line, where they have excelled all year.

A win for Texas A&M would give it even more momentum before its end-of-season showdown and further its case for a high seed in the NCAA tournament, as it continues to further itself in conference standing.

Tipoff will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
