In this story:

A road test against the South Carolina Gamecocks, despite the lack of a number next to their name, is the biggest of the season for Mike Elko's Texas A&M Aggies.

Earning a win keeps the Aggies atop the SEC as the only undefeated squad, but also likely secures their spot there until late November, when they hit the road to face Auburn. A loss would severely complicate things in the conference, which is why Texas A&M has this one circled.

Whoever gets started fastest is likely to hold the edge in Columbia. The Aggies just hope it'll be them.

That being said, here are our predictions for the game from the Texas A&M On SI staff:

Matt Galatzan, Managing Editor and Publisher

This could be a trap game for the Aggies. Coming off of an emotional win over LSU, and into a very tough environment in Columbia, this could be the Aggies' toughest test yet. I think they pull off the win, but it is a closer one than the experts think.

Last time the Aggies visited the Gamecocks, they lost to them for the first time ever. Granted, that was 2022, A&M was struggling with injuries and even then it was still a close game at the end. Texas A&M quickly got back to their winning ways last year and I don’t see why the same thing shouldn’t happen again this year. Aggies take an easy road win.

If there's been anything learned from the Texas A&M Aggies in the Mike Elko era so far, it's that they aren't afraid of the moment. They've balanced two quarterbacks all season, yet still made their opportunities count — knocking off LSU at home and coming back for a win in Arlington over Arkansas being two examples — and with another on the horizon, the goal is to do that once again.

South Carolina specializes in getting to the quarterback, and while that could mean either Reed or Weigman, I have the Aggies down for a win regardless. They've got offensive weapons galore, and can't afford to be slowed down on the line of scrimmage. That said, I don't think they will be.
