In the 80th meeting between the Texas A&M Aggies and Arkansas Razorbacks, they will see the Southwest Classic trophy stay in College Station. The Aggies beat Arkansas 34-22 as they added to their first-half lead with a 17-point second half.

However, the second half didn't come without its ups and downs for A&M, as they suffered three turnovers, two of which came within their first three possessions.

After having a chance to "double dip" coming out of halftime, A&M received the ball to kick off the third quarter, following Max Johnson's touchdown pass to Earnest Crownover, which gave them a 17-6 lead. The Aggies' first drive of the second half lasted just one play as Johnson's pass was intercepted and returned for an Arkansas score.

Then, following a 34-yard field goal from Randy Bond and a three-and-out for the Razorbacks, disaster would strike again as a six-yard scramble for Johnson saw the ball knocked loose. Despite the advantageous field position, Arkansas was held to a 50-yard field goal to cut the lead to four points.

A three-and-out from the A&M offense would be followed by the Aggies defense getting a pick-six of their own to extend their lead to 27-16 as K.J. Jefferson's pass was intercepted by Chris Russell Jr.

The Aggies would find the endzone again, this time on special teams, as Ainas Smith returned a Razorback punt 76 yards in what essentially turned out to be the dagger, as A&M took a 34-16 lead midway through the fourth quarter.

A&M would then suffer their third turnover after another Arkansas three-and-out as another Johnson scramble turned into a change of possession. After being held out of the endzone by the Aggies' defense, Jefferson found Andrew Armstrong for a 48-yard score to get the Razorbacks offense on the board.

Following Conner Weigman's season-ending injury, Johnson's first start of the season saw him complete 17 of his 28 passes for 210 yards with two touchdowns, an interception, and two fumbles. Turnovers aside, Johnson proved capable of leading the Aggies to victory.

The win moves A&M to 4-1 on the season, while Arkansas drops to 2-3. The Aggies will go into next Saturday's game versus the Alabama Crimson Tide, riding a four-game winning streak since their Week 2 loss to the Miami Hurricanes
