No. 14 Texas A&M Aggies vs. No. 8 LSU Preview: Tigers Offensive Players to Watch

The Texas A&M Aggies pass defense better bring their A-game against the LSU Tigers.

The Texas A&M Aggies are set to finish out the month of October at Kyle Field in an SEC rivalry matchup against their neighbors to the east, the LSU Tigers.

The Aggies will be looking to avenge their previous year's 42-30 loss to the Tigers as both teams will look to make their way to the newly expanded College Football Playoffs. LSU finished the season ranked 12th last year, and if they repeat that, they are sure to see themselves fighting for a championship.

Although LSU will be looking to repeat last year's success, they will be without Heisman-winning-quarterback Jayden Daniels and All-American wide receiver Malik Nabers, as both were drafted in the first round of this year's NFL Draft.

However, LSU still should not be taken lightly, and this is why the games are played. Not everyone was taken in the NFL Draft this year.

That being said, let's look at some Tigers on the offensive side of the ball that the "Wrecking Crew" defense should be on the lookout for as they defend their home turf Saturday night.

1) QB Garrett Nussmeier

The redshirted junior from Lake Charles, LA, was a solid backup last to Jayden Daniels as the Heisman took center stage in both the passing game and rushing game. This year, Nussmeier has picked the Tigers up where they left off, as he has completed 183 of 283 attempted passes for 2222 yards to go along with 18 touchdowns and six interceptions. He may not have be as much of a dual-threat option as Daniels was, but he's the starter for good reason.

2) RB Caden Durham

Durham and Josh Williams have become quite the 1-2 punch for the Tigers out of the backfield, combining for an even 600 rushing yards and nine rushing scores. Durham has also made his presence felt in the receiving game, with 10 receptions for 148 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Whether he's toting the rock up the middle, or going wide on a wheel route, the Aggie run defense should have eyes on Durham at all times.

3) WR Kyren Lacy

The fifth-year senior wideout from Thibodaux, LA, was an effective WR3 behind Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas III in 2023. In a full season, Lacy caught 30 passes for 558 yards and seven scores. Now that he has claimed the starting role, he is the clear-cut WR1 on this Tigers team, reeling in 36 catches for 512 yards and six touchdowns. Should the Tigers be in the red zone at all during the game, Lacy should be the top priority for Will Lee and the Aggie secondary.
