College World Series - No. 5 LSU vs. No. 1Wake Forest

The only two teams in the country who were ranked No. 1 at one point during the season get to play each other for the second College World Series final spot; it does not get much better than that. This will be the third time since Monday that the Tigers and Demon Deacons have squared off, and if the previous matchups are any indicators for what is ahead this evening, we are in for a good one.

Wake Forest won the first meeting 3-2 thanks to an RBI single from Bennett Lee in the eighth inning that gave the Deacons a late lead. LSU handled Tennessee 5-0 the next day and set up a rematch between the two star-studded teams. The Tigers bounced back on Wednesday, taking down Wake Forest 5-2.

Today's rubber match will see Paul Skenes, the projected No. 1 pick in this year's MLB Draft and LSU's ace, and Rhett Lowder, another potential high first-round pick and Wake Forest's ace, on the mound. These guys are arguably the two best pitchers in the country. Again, what more can you ask for? Neither of the offenses was great in the first two meetings, and that may not change tonight with those two pitching, but Dylan Crews, another LSU probable top-5 pick, has returned to prime form after being quiet in his team's first couple of games in Omaha. The type of game we see from him may decide the outcome of this showdown.

This game will begin at 6 pm CT and will air on ESPN2.
