NCAA Baseball Regionals: Rain, Rain Go Away
Storms rolled into the Fayetteville area late Saturday morning and kept hanging around. The storms, with lightning nearby, wreaked havoc on the games at Baum-Walker Stadium in the Fayetteville Regional of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
Game Four of the regional between the No. 1 seed Arkansas and the No. 2 seed TCU has been postponed. The Hogs/Frogs game will now be played on Sunday. The time is still TBD.
Game Three of the regional, the elimination game between Santa Clara and Arizona, was also delayed due to the storms. That game, initially scheduled for a 2 p.m. CT first pitch, will be played Saturday evening.
When Game Four is played, it's expected that RHP Sam Stoutenborough (3-0, 4.31 ERA) will take the mound for TCU (38-22). For the Razorbacks, LHP Hagen Smith (8-1, 2.69 ERA) will get the start.
On Friday, Arkansas defeated Santa Clara 13-6 to advance to the winner's bracket. TCU defeated Arizona 12-4 to also advance to the winner's bracket. The game will be a rematch of the second game of the season. In that game, TCU defeated Arkansas 18-6 in a game played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
