After a successful weekend against Big 12 rival Oklahoma State, the TCU Horned Frogs are heading west for a midweek contest with the Abilene Christian Wildcats.

TCU lost their weekend opener with Oklahoma State before taking the last two games of the series, while the Wildcats dropped the first two games of their series with Sam Houston State, and won the last game of the weekend.

Since the last meeting on March 21, Abilene Christian has gone 7-3, including a six-game win-streak. Five of the wins in that time have come at home, including two over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and one over Baylor.

The Horned Frogs have split their 10 road games this season with a 5-5 record. Before the series with Oklahoma State, TCU played five consecutive games on the road and went the whole stretch without back-to-back wins or losses.

Braeden Sloan will get the start for the Frogs. The freshman has a 2-2 record on the season with 24.1 innings pitched he has struck out 18 batters and walked 11 in his six starts. His last start came on March 28 against UT-Arlington, Sloan went 5 innings only giving up 4 hits and striking out 7 batters.

On the mound for the Wildcats will be Blake Anderson, a junior out of Royse City who often comes out of the bullpen. He made an appearance in the previous meeting pitching two innings and not allowing the Horned Frogs to record a hit.

Offensively, the Wildcats have a solid .300 batting average, as a team. Junior infielder Garrett Williams leads the team individually with a batting average of .373, while senior outfielder Grayson Tatrow leads the team with 39 runs batted in. One player the Frogs will not want to let on base is junior Logan Britt who has 17 of the team’s 45 stolen bases on the year.

All-time series points of note, TCU is 27-2 against Abilene Christian, and 8-0 when at Crutcher Scott Field in Abilene. Both of the Wildcats wins have come within the last five years, including a 2022 loss in Fort Worth by a score of 6-2. Overall records coming in to the game, TCU is 20-12, ACU is 23-8.
