TCU Baseball To Play Arizona State and USC At Globe Life Field
TCU Baseball’s full schedule for 2024 has yet to be announced, but the Horned Frogs know that they will once again return to Globe Life Field for at least two games for the third weekend of the season.
It was announced on Tuesday that TCU and Texas A&M will play Arizona State and USC March 1-3 next year. The exact schedule and format of the tournament still need to be announced. However, TCU and the Aggies will not play each other.
TCU played eight games in 2023 at the home of MLB’s Texas Rangers, going 7-1 in those games and averaging 11 runs per game. Since 2021, TCU is 12-5 all-time in games played at Globe Life Field.
In 2021, the first-year college baseball games were played at Globe Life Field; TCU went 1-2 as they played in the inaugural College Baseball Showdown to open the season. TCU beat Mississippi State, the eventual national champion that year, while losing to Arkansas and Ole Miss.
In 2022, the Frogs went 4-2 at Globe Life Field. This included a series sweep over Nebraska in February and a 1-2 record in the Big 12 Championship. The Big 12 moved the tournament from Oklahoma City to Arlington in 2022.
TCU played at the major league field this past season on three different occasions. In February, TCU opened the season again in the College Baseball Showdown with dominating wins over then-No. 10 Vanderbilt and No. 8 Arkansas. The Frogs would lose to Mizzou in the final game of the tournament. Due to possible severe weather in May, one game in the TCU/Baylor series was moved from Lupton Stadium to Globe Life Field. TCU won that game 2-1. Then in the Big 12 Championship, the Frogs went 4-0, defeating Kansas State (twice), Kansas, and Oklahoma State.
Globe Life Field will host three consecutive weekends of college baseball to begin the season. The inaugural Shiners Children’s College Showdown will be played February 16-18 and will feature Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Baylor, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Oregon.
The following weekend, February 23-25, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Michigan, and Oregon State will take the field at Globe Life Field.
Premium tickets will go on sale for all three weekends, Wednesday, July 26, at GlobeLifeField.com/CollegeBaseball. These tickets will include reserved seats behind home plate with exclusive access to the Lexus Club, premium parking, food and beverage offerings, and a swag bag. Prices are $144 for adults and $72 for children.
General Admission Tournament Passes and single-day tickets will go on sale later this fall. Single-Day general admission tickets are $30 for adults and $18 for children. General Admission Tournament Passes are $63 for adults and $39 for children.
Nine of the 14 programs in the 2024 lineup advanced to the postseason in 2023, with two – Tennessee and TCU - advancing to the College World. In addition, 37 2023 College Baseball Showdown players were drafted in the 2023 MLB draft. Of the 37 drafted, 35 percent were taken in the first five rounds.
Globe Life Field has been home to 74 college baseball games since 2021. Six of the fourteen programs have appeared at Globe Life Field in the last two years, including Arkansas (5-1), Oklahoma (10-6), Texas Tech (4-9), TCU (10-2), Nebraska (2-3), and Baylor (0-3). This marks the first appearance for Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Arizona State, Oregon, and Oregon State.
In addition, Texas Tech (41-23 in 2023) and Oklahoma (32-28 in 2023) have both participated at least once in the College Baseball Showdown. This is the first College Baseball Showdown appearance for Tennessee (44-22 in 2023), Oregon (41-22 in 2023), Nebraska (33-23-1 in 2023), and Baylor (20-35 in 2023).
In all, 21 games will take the stage in Arlington in 2024. TCU leads the pack with 12 total wins at Globe Life Field, followed by Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, both tied with 10. Oklahoma State will return for its 19th appearance in Arlington, the most of any college program at Globe Life Field.
FloSports will stream all three weekends of College Baseball.
