It’s no secret that TCU Baseball hasn’t been nearly as electric as some of the seasons we’ve seen in recent years. From losing series that TCU normally dominates, to losses to unranked teams throughout the season, TCU has dug themselves a hole that could prove very difficult to get out of.

As it stands right now, TCU is barely inside the cutoff for the post-season. D1 Baseball has TCU ranked 64 out of 64 just in front of teams like Texas State and Georgia Tech, two teams with records similar to TCU. While we can be happy that TCU is ranked in the Top 64, there’s just one problem. We still have one more regular season series, as well as the Big 12 Tournament before the standings for the round of 64 become finalized.

Furthermore, this final series for the Horned Frogs could prove extremely difficult considering it is an away series against a good Kansas State team. Beating Kansas State at home playing any sport is already difficult enough with their dedicated fanbase, but what makes things even harder is the fact that TCU hasn’t done well on the road this season earning themselves a 6-8 record. Visiting a Kansas State team that’s 18-6 at home doesn’t exactly leave the odds in your favor.

To win this series, the Horned Frogs are going to need to be firing on all cylinders. While Elijah Nunez and Logan Maxwell have been swinging the bat well, this series is going to come down to pitching. The Horned Frogs won’t be able to rely on just their hitting against the Wildcats.

Looking past the 3-game series against Kansas State, TCU needs to at least compete in the Big 12 Tournament. This means that the Horned Frogs need to have at least one win to really solidify their spot in the postseason.

The Horned Frogs start their series against the Wildcats starting on Thursday, May 18th and finish the series on Saturday, May 20th
