The country roads were rocky for the Frogs as they could not complete their comeback effort, falling to West Virginia 5-4.

Kole Klecker got the start on Friday. This was Klecker’s first start in a series opener in his career. The freshman began the year coming out of the bullpen, and eventually started starting game two of every series.

In his first series-opening start, Klecker completed five innings of work. He allowed five earned runs on six hits. He took the loss tonight.

The Mountaineers got things going very early in this one. Left fielder Landon Wallace launched a two-run homer to left-center field before an out was recorded in the first inning. Then in the bottom of the fourth inning, third baseman Sam White hit a three-run homer to give West Virginia a 5-1 lead. That was all the scoring they would get, and all they needed.

In his homecoming game, right fielder Austin Davis scored a run in the sixth inning on a Kurtis Byrne double and recorded an RBI double of his own in the top of the seventh inning. He also made an incredible catch falling over the wall down the right field line.

TCU is looking to bounce back in a major way. They have now lost four of their last five games and have not held their opponent to under five runs since their April 7 victory over Oklahoma State. Louis Rodriguez will get the ball Saturday in his first career start.

First pitch is at 3 p.m.CT Saturday, and you can watch on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
