The first inning was a rough one for the Frogs, allowing three runs with two outs after center fielder Elijah Nunez lost a potential inning ending low fly-ball in the lights with the bases loaded. In the bottom half, all three batters that went to the plate struck out.

After allowing two more runs to San Diego in the second inning, the Frogs offense seemed to have hope for just a moment in the bottom of the inning. David Bishop got it started with a bang hitting a ball hard off the right field wall but was thrown out at second base trying to make it a double.

San Diego put up crooked numbers in each of the next four innings as well to give them a 14-0 lead over the Frogs. That pretty much ended things on the field.

Ryan Vanderhei was only able to pitch three innings, allowing six earned runs on five hits. He struck out five batters and walked three.

One of the lone bright spots for the Frogs was the collegiate debut of Jax Traeger, who pitched five innings in relief.

Kole Klecker will take the ball Saturday at 2 p.m. CT as the Frogs look to bounce back and even the series against San Diego.
