It was a tough day for the TCU Horned Frogs on Friday. After winning eleven straight, nine of those in the postseason, the winning streak came to an end with a heartbreaking 6-5 loss to Oral Roberts.

MCWS Game One - 1st Inning

Both teams get a baserunner but can’t find a way to move them in the 1st. Justin Quinn got on base for the Golden Eagles, and Karson Bowen got on base for the Horned Frogs.

MCWS Game One - 2nd Inning

Holden Breeze got a two-out hit for the Golden Eagles, followed by a walk from Drew Stahl. Despite having two on, Klecker got Jacob Godman to fly out.

Nothing happened for the Frogs in the 2nd. Tre Richardson led off with a walk, but a flyout by Kurtis Byrne and Richardson caught stealing eliminated any momentum. Anthony Silva finished off the inning by grounding out to shortstop.

MCWS Game One - 3rd Inning

Blaze Brothers got on base after an error by Silva, but Kole Klecker picked him up by getting a 1-6-3 double play. Quinn doubled to right center field, but Klecker got the final out with his first strikeout.

Elijah Nunez got on base via a walk after the first two Frogs go in order, but a fly ball to centerfield ended the inning.

(After three innings in Omaha, the score was still 0-0)

MCWS Game One - 4th Inning

Breeze doubled down the left field line after two hard-earned outs, including a diving play by Silva, but that’s all the Eagles managed in the 4th.

After a Brayden Taylor lineout, Cole Fontenelle stepped up for the Frogs and delivered a solo home run to right center field. Richardson struck out, and Byrne flew out to center to end the inning.

MCWS Game One - 5th Inning

The Eagles went three up, three down in the 5th inning with a pair of groundouts.

Luke Boyers doubled down the right field line, but the Horned Frogs couldn’t cash in after an Austin Davis groundout, and Nunez struck out looking.

MCWS Game One - 6th Inning

Klecker exited the ballgame after giving up a leadoff double by Quinn. Ben Abeldt came into the game with a runner on second with no outs. After two outs by Abeldt, Mac McCrosky homered to right field with one man on, giving Oral Roberts the lead 2-1.

Karson Bowen started the Frogs off in the 6th by doubling down the left field line. Taylor moved him over with a ground ball to second base, and on a Fontenelle single, Bowen scored, making it 2-2.

(After six innings in Omaha, the score was tied at 2-2)

MCWS Game One - 7th Inning

The Eagles only get a walk by Godman in the 7th inning.

Byrne singled to left field to lead things off for the Horned Frogs but got doubled up at first on a fly ball hit by Silva. Boyers struck out looking to end the inning.

MCWS Game One - 8th Inning

Luke Savage took the mound for the Frogs in the 8th. Two quick flyouts by  Quinn and Jonah Cox made Savage's first inning a short one as he struck out Matt Hogan for the final out.

Davis lined out to left field. Nunez singled to right center. Bowen walked.  Taylor was intentionally walked. Fontenelle and Richardson walked to bring in two runs.  Byrne tagged on one more with a sac fly to left field to give TCU a 5-2 lead.

(The score was 5-2 TCU eight.)

MCWS Game One - 9th Inning

An error by Taylor at 3rd base gave ORU a runner at second with nobody out. The Eagles followed this up with two singles into center, scoring one. With two runners on, Brothers hit a 3-run home run that gave the Golden Eagles the lead 6-5. Garrett Wright took the mound with a runner on first and two out and did his job by getting the final out.

With one out, Davis singled to center followed by an 11-pitch at-bat by Nunez, resulting in a walk. Bowen struck out swinging to bring the Frogs down to their final out with Taylor at the plate. Taylor lined out to left field for the final out of the ballgame.

Final Score: Oral Roberts-6, TCU-5

The Horned Frogs will have to go forward facing elimination for the duration of the tournament and will play at 1 p.m. on Sunday against the loser of Game 2.

Kole Klecker shined for the Horned Frogs by throwing five innings, only allowing one run, while Cole Fontenelle hit the ball for the Frogs' offense going 2/3 for 3 RBIs.
