Men's Basketball Poll Watching Week 5: Arizona Takes Top Spot

This week's polls had many teams moving up and down. TCU inches closer to a ranked position.

In the Week 5 basketball polls, there was lots of movement. In fact, not one team in either poll remained in the same spot as the Week 4 polls. The new number one team in both polls is the Arizona Wildcats. Kansas, Houston, Purdue, and UConn round out the top five. 

The TCU Horned Frogs (7-0) moved closer to appearing in both polls as they are receiving enough votes.

The Big 12 continues to demonstrate why it is the most dominant league in the nation with six teams ranked and three of those in the top six. In addition to TCU, two other teams are receiving votes in at least one poll. Here are the Big 12 teams either ranked or receiving votes:

• Kansas - No. 2 in the AP Top 25 and No. 3 in the Coaches Poll
• Houston - No. 3 in the AP Top 25 and No. 2 in the Coaches Poll
• Baylor - No. 6 in both polls
• Texas - No. 12 in the AP Top 25 and No. 16 in the Coaches Poll
• BYU - No. 14 in the AP Top 25 and tied for No. 13 in the Coaches Poll
• Oklahoma - No. 19 in the AP Top 25 and No. 22 in the Coaches Poll
• TCU - Receiving votes in both polls (28/28)
• Cincinnati - Receiving votes in both polls (34/39)
• Iowa State - Receiving votes in the Coaches Poll (34)
