Men's Basketball Poll Watching Week 8: Purdue Remains Top Team

The Top 5 did not change week-over-week. TCU is receiving votes in the Coaches poll.

Purdue maintained its top spot in both bolls for Week 8. The Top 5 is identical in both the AP Top 25 and Coaches Poll and did not change. After Purdue, it's Kansas, Houston, Arizona, and UConn.

After going 2-1 in the Diamond Head Classic last week, the TCU Horned Frogs are now 10-2 with one non-conference matchup to play before Big 12 play begins in January. The one loss to Nevada in the tournament was enough to not receive any votes in this week's AP Top 25. However, the Frogs are still receiving votes this week in the Coaches Poll. 

The Big 12 continues to demonstrate why it is the most dominant league in the nation, with six teams ranked. In addition to TCU, one other team is receiving votes. Here are the Big 12 teams either ranked or receiving votes:

• Kansas - No. 2 in both polls
• Houston - No. 3 in both polls
• Oklahoma - No. 12 in the AP Top 25 and No. 13 in the Coaches Poll
• BYU - No. 14 in the AP Top 25 and tied for No. 12 in the Coaches Poll
• Baylor - No. 17 in the AP Top 25 and No. 18 in the Coaches Poll
• Texas - No. 21 in the AP Top 25 and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll
• Iowa State - Receiving votes in both polls (31/29)
• TCU - Receiving votes in the Coaches Poll (30)
