We keep saying that the Big 12 is a gauntlet. With six ranked teams, nearly every Big 12 game will feature at least one ranked opponent, sometimes two. Any team can beat any other team on any given day.

This week’s midweek games were all played on Monday or Tuesday, no Wednesday games this week. On Monday, West Virginia got an 18-point win over Oklahoma State, and Kansas held on to beat TCU despite not making a field goal in the last four+ minutes. On Tuesday, Kansas State got a needed home win over Baylor, making the Bears’ journey to the state of Kansas 0-2 in just four days. Tech got the win over Oklahoma, and Texas blew out Iowa State.

Here are some other interesting stats about the conference:

  • After Tuesday, Texas and Kansas are tied at the top of the standings at 11-4. Baylor and Kansas State are two games back at 9-6. Iowa State is then at 8-7, and TCU and Oklahoma State are at 7-8.
  • A nation-high 60% of the league is ranked in the Top 25 in both the AP Top 25.
  • All teams in the league are in the Top 77 of NET rankings; the only league to accomplish this. Kansas is ranked No. 6, followed by Texas (8), Baylor (12), Iowa State (17), Kansas State (18), TCU (24), West Virginia (26), Oklahoma State (41), Texas Tech (49), and Oklahoma (77).
  • The Big 12 conference NET ranking of 27.9 is the lowest of all leagues; the next lowest is at 58.36 (Big Ten).
