Know Your Foe: Iowa State Basketball Players to Watch
The TCU Horned Frogs take on the Iowa State Cyclones on Wednesday, February 15. Here are some key players on the Iowa State team that TCU fans should know before the game.
#13 Jaren Holmes
Guard from Romulus, Michigan. Senior
The 6-4, 210 lb. guard has emerged this season as the team's leading scorer. It is not a surprise because he is also the team's most efficient and leading FT shooter. Holmes is a very talented guard who can shoot from almost anywhere. He is also very experienced and has played college ball, for now, three different teams. TCU will need to make sure he is not wide open on the perimeters, or he will make the Frogs pay. The last time Holmes played the Frogs, he scored 10 points. He made the Horned Frogs pay when he was left open because he is a good shooter. The frogs will have to improve guarding him if they want to slow down this Iowa State offense.

#2 Caleb Grill
Three-star Guard from Wichita, Kansas. Senior
The 6-3 196 lb. guard has become one of the most critical pieces to this cyclone team. Grill is a very impressive and fun player to watch. He likes to shoot a lot of threes and loves to play aggressive defense. Grill also likes to attack the rim, and he can finish at a high level. TCU will have to play tough against Grill because he can almost do anything. Grill was held to just three points in his last matchup against TCU. The Frogs did a good job defending his three-ball and making sure he was not open in the paint. They need to be able to repeat what they did last time because Caleb Grill can be very dangerous.

Points | 10.5 |
Rebounds | 4.3 |

#22 Gabe Kalscheur
Three-star Guard from Edina, Minnesota. Senior
Kalscheur is a 6-4 194 lb. guard who is one of Iowa State's best shooters. He is also an excellent passer and can move the ball around. He is also swift and can finish at the rim. TCU will need tight defense on this formidable three-guard lineup that Iowa State runs. He led Iowa State in scoring the last time the Cyclones faced TCU. The Frogs did not have an answer for him in the paint, which ended up being a problem. TCU will have to fix this if they want to win this game.

Points | 12.7 |
Rebounds | 2.4 |
Assists | 1.7 |
Field Goal % | 41.3 % |
#21 Osun Osunniyi
Center from Pleasantville, New Jersey. Senior
Osun Osunniyi is a 6-10 215 lb. center, which makes scoring in the paint very challenging. However, he is a good shot block and a decent rebounder. Osunniyi is also a decent post-scorer. He will battle against TCU's Eddie Lampkin to see who will be more physical in the paint. TCU will have to hold him out of the paint, or he could be a problem. Even though Osunniyi wasn't too much of an offensive threat against TCU last time, but he still did his job defending and getting rebounds. With Eddie Lampkin Jr. still not 100%, they will have to work hard to slow him down.
#3 Tamin Lipsey
Three-star Guard from Ames, Iowa. Freshman
The 6-1 200 lb. guard is not very big, but he is a pretty effective player. He is a very talented guard who can scorer and defend. He was not a starter the last time The Cyclones faced TCU due to an injury. TCU will need to prepare for a different-looking team with Lipsey starting.

Points | 7.5 |
Rebounds | 3.5 |
Assists | 4.7 |
