Likely Landing Spots for Miles, Baugh a Week Before the NBA Draft

With a week before the NBA draft, here are the likely places TCU's Mike Miles and Damion Baugh might end up.

In this story:

After declaring for the NBA draft, Mike Miles and Damion Baugh have participated in workouts with different teams looking to improve their draft stock.

With the draft being a week away on June 22, here are three likely landing spots for both of them.

Mike Miles

Miles has notably completed pre-draft workouts with the Thunder, Hawks, and Bucks, all with picks in the second round, the area where Mike is projected to go.

1. Pick 50 - Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder giving interest to Miles makes a lot of sense for both sides. They have lots of tall, long guards and forwards surrounding star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Miles offers a skillset as a smaller guard who can create his own shot to play alongside these taller playmakers. He has a similar build to current backup point guard Tre Mann, but since Mann shot under 40% from the field last season, Miles would have the opportunity to play himself into a rotational role right away.

2. Pick 58 - Milwaukee Bucks

With the Bucks holding the final pick at 58, Miles fits exactly what they need. They are an extremely talented and deep team that will compete for a championship, but if they had a thin position group it would be guard. Their guard rotation currently involves Jrue Holiday, Grayson Allen, and Jevon Carter. As a combo guard, Mike gives them the versatility to play at either guard spot if someone was to get hurt or underperform and would be a great value selection if he were to slip to 58.

3. Pick 46 - Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks starting guard positions barring a trade are set with Trae Young and Dejounte Murray, but besides that they are very thin. Their backup point guard last season was Aaron Holiday who averaged just 3.9 points per game and is currently a free agent. If they do select Mike, he would have a chance to be an impact player right away.

Other Likely Destinations

- Memphis Grizzlies at Pick 45 or 56

- Los Angeles Clippers at Pick 48

- Phoenix Suns at Pick 52

Damion Baugh

Baugh is likely to be undrafted but has completed pre-draft workouts with the Lakers and Warriors. With that being said, Baugh has elite playmaking traits and athleticism, so he has the ability to impress a team enough to make a roster. I believe he is a very slept on prospect whose skills can easily translate to the league.

1. UDFA - Golden State Warriors

The Warriors are a team that has a ton of shooters at guard that like to play off the ball and fast. This fits Baugh's style of play perfectly and would allow him to play in his element creating shots for others at a quick pace. As their roster currently stands, they don't have a solidified true backup point guard and would have the room to sign one as it stands now. With that being said, Baugh could be a very smart, budget-friendly move for Golden State if they liked his workout enough to give him the opportunity.

2. UDFA - Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers roster from last season was filled with players on expiring contracts, so they will most likely have a lot of new faces next season. With Lebron James and Anthony Davis' window closing for a championship, they will most likely sign a lot of veterans on expensive contracts to help the team win now. To fill the rest of the roster, they will need cheap contracts, and Baugh would be a perfect candidate for that as an undrafted free agent. His competitiveness and raw talent has already interested the Lakers enough to give him a workout and could propel him to a potential roster spot.

3. UDFA - Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks roster is thin at all positions, and who knows what will happen with Kyrie Irving this offseason, but with Frank Ntilikina and McKinley Wright IV as their backup point guards to Luka Doncic, there are definitely roster spots up for grabs. With that being said, Baugh could provide defense and ability to play alongside more scoring guards like Doncic, Jaden Hardy, and Tim Hardaway Jr. I'm sure Horned Frog fans would love getting to watch Baugh in Dallas as well.

Other Possible Destinations

- UDFA - Memphis Grizzlies

- Los Angeles Lakers at Pick 47

- UDFA - Miami Heat
